About the Role
Job Summary:
The teacher will work with students in a supervised environment outside of regular school hours, providing academic support, and engaging them in enrichment activities. The teacher will provide a supportive and enriching learning environment for students outside of regular school hours, and to help them achieve academic and total health success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and implement lessons or activities that align with students' academic needs and interests.
Create a safe and positive learning environment for students.
Supervise students and ensure their safety during all activities.
Provide individual or small group instruction and tutoring to students who need academic support.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
Monitor and document student progress and communicate this information to parents and school staff.
Create assessments to review the level of academic needs of each student. Teachers will be required to provide evaluations to the Program Director and families, to create awareness of the success/growth of each student.
Attend regular meetings with other after school program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
Help students develop study and organizational skills.
Manage classroom behavior and discipline.
Keep accurate attendance records.

Work Environment/Conditions
40 hours per week. Summer Hours: Mon – Friday, core hours 8am – 5pm
Ability to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to lift over 25 lbs with assistance.
Ability to navigate stairs and uneven terrain.
Must pass a criminal background check and a child abuse clearance.
Salary Range: $25-30/hr

Requirements
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
Teachers must be certified or sub-certified to teach in Missouri.
2 years experience teaching students in a classroom setting.
Teachers must have strong knowledge and expertise in the subject area they teach, whether it's math, science, English, social studies, or another subject. Must be able to develop and deliver engaging, effective lessons that help students achieve academic success.
Teachers must be able to create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment for their students. They must be able to manage behavior effectively and maintain control of the classroom at all times.
Teachers must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. They must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Teachers must possess a range of personal qualities, including patience, flexibility, creativity, and a passion for education. They must be able to work effectively with a diverse range of students, and be committed to helping all students achieve their full potential.
Must be able to adapt to the needs of their students and be flexible in their teaching approach. This may involve adjusting their teaching style to match the learning style of individual students, working with students at different skill levels, and being open to feedback from students and parents.
